They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Acts 2:42-44 NIV
There are four spiritual disciplines that these early Jesus followers were devoted to … and you can either circle these in your Bible or fill in the blanks with these four Christian practices … Apostles’ Teaching, Fellowship, Breaking of Bread, and Prayer!
Last week, we examined together the first two of these practices the Apostles’ Teaching and Fellowship. We specifically described the importance of living out these disciplines within our small groups here at Southwest. Our goal for these small group fellowships is that they not simply be Bible Studies, but that instead they are truly gatherings of people who are doing life together. Apostles’ Teaching, Fellowship, Breaking of Bread, and Prayer
So even though some of our small groups are not meeting throughout the summer, we want to make sure that we are continuing to do life together (#swclifetogether)! So we have encouraged each small group at SWC to make sure that throughout the summer months of July & August, they are scheduling opportunities to have fun together in activities and outings, share a meal together, and by all means go serve together! Every week here at SWC, we have a list of service opportunities (mission trip, Gospel Mission, Victory Project, Bogg, etc.) in the bulletin … so look for an opportunity and/or be creative and do something “New” serving together in Jesus name!
